Monday Morning

Happy Monday!

Mondays always come as a bit of a shock because my day starts at 4:30am when my alarm blares at me. After some cuddling time with Simba, I have to rush to get everything together and get to work at 5am.

This weekend was a good one. After work on Friday, I swam 40 laps, about 1.1 miles. I’m just getting back into swimming and so far, I’m loving it. I have to be super careful because I dye my hair blonde, but my precautions have thus far been successful. I can already feel the benefits swimming has had on my running, which was evident on Saturday morning. Friday night, I had dinner with my family and then was happy to fall into bed.

Saturday morning kicked off with a homemade breakfast sandwich, a strength circuit, and a solid 3.1 mile run.

Later that afternoon, I got my haircut, which always feels amazing! I really need to stick to the stylist when it comes to dyeing my hair. It’s too much of a hassle for an ok turnout when I do it on my own. Not to mention I left it on for too long last time and had a strip of silvery purple for a few days…

That night, I saw Black Panther with my friend Stephanie. It was excellent! I was anxious the entire time, but it was all for good.

I slept in a bit on Sunday (for me that’s now 8:30am!) and woke up in time to start a big breakfast. Please appreciate the Mickey waffle.

After finishing some necessary chores, I fit in a solid workout at the gym, including another mile run. For lunch, I made homemade beef and broccoli (with cauliflower) and brown rice. So good! The marinade included 2 tablespoons bbq sauce, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, and some garlic. I made enough for two servings and have leftover meat.

I also roasted some chickpeas to have for the week, including my dinner, this kale Caesar salad with shrimp.

The rest of Sunday was spent writing, working on the updated blog, and relaxing with the cutest cat around.

Have a great day, everyone!

I’m Allergic to Apples But I Still Eat Them

A real daredevil I am…

My weekend started early Friday afternoon when I got off work and finished up a killer workout. I ate lunch and cuddled up on the couch watching old episodes of Will and Grace with this guy.

That night, I went out to dinner with some work friends before heading to bed and preparing for another early morning at work.

Once I finished work on Saturday morning, my friend Stephanie picked me up to see our other college friends Erin and Katie. It’s been awhile since the four of us got together and we had a blast apple picking, laughing, and chatting.

And eating apples… I’m slightly allergic, so I stuck to one and felt fine. Erin for the photobomb win!

Even though it was not quite a fall day (hot!), we enjoyed being outside and snacked on apple cider donuts.

That night, a few of us saw It, which was creepy and a little confusing, but fun! I’m ready for the Halloween season!

Sunday started like this.

Kittens apparently do not have sense of personal space.

After grocery shopping with mom, I whipped up some french bread pizzas for a game day lunch.

Both the Red Sox and Patriots had come-from-behind wins and though I’d prefer them just to do well from the beginning, those types of games are more exciting.

When the sun went down a bit and the air cooled, I headed to the track to fit in a 3-mile run. I started re-watching Big Little Lies because my mom hasn’t seen it yet and it’s still amazing.

Now we’re back to Monday- make it a great one to kick off this week!

…And we’re back to Monday! It happens fast, doesn’t it? My Mondays don’t really start until the end of the day, so I can’t complain!

After work on Friday, I fit in a total body crusher workout, which killed extra since I was sick all last week. I revamped my workouts to include more cardio every day and so far it’s been great (and sweaty)! That night, I went out for drinks with a few cousins and my brother and his girlfriend.

Saturday was an off day for me workout wise, but I started nice and early at work. It’s nice to work in the morning because once I was off, my weekend I did enjoy nap time with this dude.

We met up with our friend Katie after and headed into the city to attend a Greek Festival. Greek food is one of my favorite cuisines. I had a delicious gyro, an assortment of Greek desserts, and red wine.

On Sunday, it was game day. Though I’m more of a baseball fan, I like the camaraderie of football Sunday and I put together some guacamole.

And of course, plenty of time was spent with this dude.

crazy cat lady

I can’t deny it. My kitten has taken over my world. He’s a cute, rambunctious little guy and I can already tell he’ll be trouble in the best of ways. On Friday night, we had a pal’s night in and relaxed watching The West Wing and playing with fake mice.

Samba likes to stretch out wherever I am.

On Saturday, I worked in the morning and relaxed in the afternoon before heading out for a run.

That night, I hung out with my friend Molly, and of course, this little guy.

Sunday morning, I found myself hanging off the end of the bed and the kitten curled up in the middle of the bed, under the covers, save for his head where it was resting on my pillow. This is my world now.

That afternoon, we had a family BBQ and lots of relaxing before heading to the track for a run. After, I found my new phone screensaver.

I might be crazy, but isn’t he cute?

monday vibes

It’s good to be home among family and friends. I love Los Angeles in a way I can’t describe, but there’s nothing quite like being with the people who love you and support you no matter what. That’s not to say I didn’t find people close to my heart in LA because I absolutely did.

I flew in on Friday and immediately squeezed my family as hard as possible. It’s been four months since I last saw them, which, for the record, is insane and painful and scary and sad. It felt a little like reprieve to sit in my living room and eat one of my favorite meals and just be.

On Saturday, I hit up my old gym to see some friends because believe me, I missed them too!

And Sunday, oh, well Sunday, we’ll get to on next Monday.

mondayyyy

And….we’re back to that Monday grind. How was your weekend?

I kicked things off on Friday with a run! And then satisfied my craving for In-N-Out as I watched my husband Chris Evan’s film Captain America Civil War. I know, it’s shocking to me that I haven’t seen it too.

On Saturday, I spent the morning brunching and the afternoon at the beach.

That evening, I hung out with my friend as we drove around LA. Always lovely.

Sunday took me to Knott’s Berry Farm with my cousins Meghan and Sebastian. It’s no Disneyland, which is off limits thanks to the annual pass holder blackout dates, but it’s still fun!

I’m quite the daredevil with all those roller coasters (some scarier than others). I guess I just have a need for speed. Ew.

Sunday night, I finished some blog posts, watched the West Wing, read, and went to sleep. Happiest of all Mondays!

weekend warrior

Welcome back from the weekend…was it all you hoped it would be?

Friday kicked things off with a movie night among friends. A group of us went to see Girls Trip, which was hilarious! I seriously haven’t laughed that hard in forever.

On Saturday morning, I livened things up with a delicious batch of pancakes- which I really thought I had snapped a pic of to show you….

After, I cleaned up my apartment with Friends playing in the background. In the late afternoon, I headed over to my friend’s place to drink wine, eat Chipotle, and watch Forensic Files.

Sunday involved a lazy morning of laying in bed reading before I made scrambled eggs and toast. I fit in a solid workout of strength training and running.

That afternoon, I drove up to Griffith Observatory with my friend to check out some views.

The rest of the evening was all about relaxation and movies.

Happy Monday!
