aaaand we’re back.

We’re looking a little different around here these days! A fresh start was much needed and I think things are looking good. Please also note that in order to find the blog, the link is now

Here’s a funny story to start your Monday off on the right foot. A week ago, in the wee hours of the morning, I heard Simba playing. He jumped up and was super cuddly, a common occurrence for him. Still half asleep and in the dark, I start petting him until I feel something moist but solid next to him. At first, I felt bad for the little guy, thinking he threw up or had a hairball, but then I realized in a year of having him, he’d never been sick. It hit me, in one of those sickening punchy ways what it was. A DEAD MOUSE. I threw it across the room and jumped up, trying to be quiet and thankful to Simba for his hard work, but also deeply disgusted. I stepped on it. At 4:30am, I was scrubbing my hands and feet and then had to throw away the mouse before work.

How are you?

I’m feeling quite well! My mom and I are on Weight Watchers together and we’ve both made great strides. Thus far, I am down 14.2 pounds.

This weekend, I tried on a pair of black pants I had purchased a few years ago assuming they would fit, but they were always too tight. They fit PERFECTLY this weekend. It’s the small things with weight loss that keep you going.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a weekend recap. In the meantime, check out the new sections of the blog, including an updated My Weight Loss Journey, Personal Training, and Writing.

Enjoy your Monday!

A Week of Meals

Another week, another week of eating. Here’s what I’ve been enjoying for meals.

Egg scramble with veggies and cheese stuffed into a pita.

Scrambled eggs covered with cheese and a big bowl of fruit.

Scrambled eggs and cheese with a piece of toast and blueberries.

Steak kale caesar on a whole wheat tortilla.

Big ole’ salad with grilled chicken.

Another salad with chicken.

Chicken parm from the air frier  with zoodles.

Blackened salmon with spinach rice and asparagus.

Crockpot sesame chicken with veggie rice, peppers, and broccoli.

A Day of Meals

The selected meals this week are from various days, depending on when I remembered to take photos. Bare with me, it’s a vacation week.

Breakfast on vacation just tastes better. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. Simple and delicious.

A salad with grilled chicken earlier in the week when I was at work. Simple and refreshing on such a hot day!

Tacos on a Monday! 93% lean beef on corn tortillas with shredded lettuce, tomato, pickled jalapenos, and a dollop of sour cream. Kale caesar on the side.

Side note: you might not be able to tell, but I’ve been practicing my coding on the blog and so far, I’m learning a lot! I’m still on the basics and will be for awhile, but it’s been a fun experience thus far!

Happy Fourth of July

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day with their loved ones, soaking up the sun, relaxing, eating yummy food, and appreciating all the good that we do have, even though there is so much chaos in today’s world.

On this day, I always think of the song Guns and Ships from Hamilton:

How does a ragtag volunteer army in need of a shower
Somehow defeat a global superpower?
How do we emerge victorious from the quagmire?
Leave the battlefied waving Betsy Ross’ flag higher?

And just like that, we’re back to Monday. It is a short week, thanks to the holiday, so I’m not too mad about it! I’m back to check in with a weekend recap and wish you all a wonderful start to the week.

After I headed out from work on Friday, I fit in a home strength training workout focusing on all compound movements and finished with some jump roping. Jump roping is such an efficient way to fit in quality cardio and you reap the benefits without having to stay at it for a monotonous 30+ minutes.

For lunch, I met up with my friend Nouha to grab Chipotle. It was great relaxing and catching up. Once I was home, I spent some quality time with Simba who has been upset that the windows have all been shut thanks to the air conditioner. He’s taking it hard and is instead following me around everywhere I go. Luckily, I don’t mind.

Once traffic subsided a bit, I headed over to see my sister, her husband, and the baby! I had grilled up some shrimp and packed up a bunch of fixins’ to concoct some tasty tacos for dinner and we all enjoyed those.

It’s funny how amusing just watching an infant is.

By the time I got home, I only had time for a few pats and a chapter out of my new book before it was time to call it a night.

Saturday mornings are meant for pancakes! I’m still getting back into good blogger practices, so I forgot to snap a pic of my breakfast feast, but it included pancakes (duh) and some scrambled eggs. Something nice and simple on another hot morning!

I slept in a good portion of the morning, a rare feat with a cat who needs constant affection, I mean look at the cuteness I was dealing with here:

and after breakfast, I put in some work with learning html and writing.

In the afternoon, I hydrated up and attempted a run. It was hot, but there was a slight breeze that got me through two miles. Once I met up with my friend Molly for a walk, the heat caught up with me though and I was in desperate need for water. We got lunch after, so I was feeling good.

I spent a solid hour writing a fiction piece and it felt good getting into the flow again. That night, I watched the Red Sox demolish the Yankees 11-0 and enjoyed ice cream with my parents.

I slept in a little on Sunday, luxuriating in the air conditioning before starting my day with some grocery shopping.

For breakfast, I enjoyed this scramble with chicken sausage and jalapenos.

The rest of their afternoon consisted of solid time in the pool where I relaxed and swam half a mile. My sister and her husband and BABY came over for a cookout in the afternoon.

It was still hot, but we made it through.

Fresh Start

Hi, everyone and welcome to the new page! I realized it was time for a fresh start and new name. While I do consider myself worthy of princess-ship, it doesn’t have much to do with what this blog is all about. For now, you can still find me at, but my official name is Stronger With Caitlin.

First, I’d like to start with some background information. My name is Caitlin and I’m a NASM-certified Personal Trainer. I’ve been training for the better part of two years and love helping my clients realize their own strength and happiness. This struggle is something I’ve dealt with my entire life. I was a heavy child and was severely overweight until the summer going into my senior year of college when I wanted better for myself. I started working out on the rickety elliptical in my basement, increasing minutes day by day. Once I felt more comfortable and stronger, I experimented with strength training. Combined with a healthier diet, I lost 100 pounds in a year and graduated with more self-confidence than I realized I had in me.

On this blog, I share healthy recipes, workouts, and some tidbits of my life. If you’re on instagram, please find me at @strongerwithcaitlin to find more. Thanks for reading!
